UGC works for home improvement brands because the product is big, the purchase is expensive, and people want to see it in a real setting before they commit. A veranda, wall panel or lighting video shows scale, finish and the result in a way a product photo cannot. I have made videos for Glas123, Benacci and Lightexpert, and the lessons below come from that kind of work.
Why this category is different
If you sell a phone case, someone can decide in ten seconds. If you sell a glass veranda roof, nobody decides in ten seconds. The customer is thinking about their house, their budget and whether it will look good in their garden. They have questions, and they are a bit nervous about getting it wrong.
That changes what the video has to do. It is less about excitement and more about reassurance. Show how big it really is. Show how it is put together. Show what it looks like when it is done. A calm, clear explanation from one person usually beats a fast montage.
Three formats that suit these products
1. The walkthrough
One person, one product, talking through what you are looking at. This works well for a veranda because the viewer wants to understand the parts: the roof, the profile, the finish.

The Glas123 video above is a talking-head walkthrough of a hip-roof veranda. Notice that the structure itself is the star, and the explanation keeps pointing at details a buyer would ask about.
2. The transformation
Wall panels are a before and after product by nature. A bare wall becomes a finished one. The viewer does not need a long speech, they need to see the change and understand how much work it takes.
In the Benacci video, the wall panel install is shown from start to finish. That sequence answers the question "how hard is this actually?" before anyone asks it.
3. The mood shot
Lighting is about atmosphere, and atmosphere is hard to explain in words. A veranda lit up in the evening says more than a spec sheet. A voice-over or a few lines to camera can add the practical side, but the light has to be visible.
The Lightexpert video shows veranda lighting at dusk, which is the moment the product earns its keep.
What I would put in a brief for a home improvement product
- Dimensions and the one or two measurements people always ask about
- Where the product is used (garden, living room, front of the house)
- What the install involves, and whether a professional is needed
- Materials and maintenance, in words a normal person would use
- The one thing that makes yours different from the cheaper alternative
- Anything you cannot claim, such as guarantees or certifications you want checked first
If you have never written a brief, my guide to UGC video formats helps you choose the shape of the video before you write it.
What to be careful with
Big products are hard to ship to a creator. Agree up front whether I film with a sample, with a product at your showroom, or with footage you already have. For installed products like verandas I would not pretend I built something I did not. I would say what I saw and what the process is, honestly. That is both more believable and safer for you.
Also think about timing. Garden products are seasonal, so the video you want for spring should be briefed well before spring. My delivery is 7 working days from an approved brief, but a heavy product takes longer to get to me.
Which package fits
For a first test I would start with one Starter video (€400) and use the two hooks to see which opening works. If you sell several product lines, such as roofs, panels and lighting, Step Up (€1,100 for 3 videos) lets you cover three products or three angles, in Dutch and English. Usage rights and costs are explained in how much UGC creators charge.
Want a video like this for your brand?
If you sell something people want to see in real life before they buy, a UGC video is a good place to start.

FAQ
Does UGC work for expensive home products like verandas?
Yes, if the video answers the buyer's questions: size, finish, installation and how it looks in a real garden. For expensive purchases, a clear, calm explanation tends to help more than a flashy edit.
What kind of UGC video is best for wall panels?
A before and after or a start-to-finish install video, because the change is visible and shows how much effort it takes.
Can you film lighting products for UGC?
Yes. Lighting is best shown in the setting it is meant for, at the right time of day, so viewers see the atmosphere and not just the fixture.
How much does a UGC video for a home improvement brand cost?
With me a single video starts at €400, and a pack of three in Dutch and English is €1,100. Both include usage rights on your own channels.
